There was a time when 'photography' was limited to those with a professional camera. It was then followed by the surge of social media that led to the popularization of DSLRs and interest in photography saw an upswing.
A smartphone camera nowadays, of which the Google's Pixel is a good example, can do a fair job when it comes to good-looking or high-quality pictures. But if you want to pursue photography in detail, a DSLR is a better choice to learn the nitty gritties.
Since DSLRs are quite an investment, we suggest you start with a budget DSLR. Polishing your skills on an entry-level DSLR and then switching to a high-end/costly DSLR is usually the preferred path. There are some great options under Rs 30,000 that you can start with.
Here is a list of 5 best DSLRs cameras under Rs 30,000 that you can start with.

An old horse from Nikon, but very reliable one. We particularly like the D3400 for its features such as 5fps burst shooting, respectable battery, 60fps video recording, and WiFi connectivity. The large ISO range can also be useful for night shots.

Pretty much all the things said for the 3000D can be said here except for a much better display on this one and the inclusion of NFC. So, yes, better than the 3000D.

Entry level DSLR from Canon since Nikon decided they’re not interested in making any. Given it’s price point, don’t expect much. Nonetheless, there’s WiFi so you don’t have to carry a laptop with you all the time. What we don’t like is the fact that the burst mode allows only 3fps shooting. Not a great dampener, but disappointing. Also, you will have to compromise on the AF points and the display. Nothing that shouldn’t stop you from taking great photographs, but not making life too easy either. Also, don’t let the name fool you. Both 1300D and 1500D are better cameras.

This one is an ancient model but still not outdated. Some of the features that stand out include 5fps continuous shooting, 24MP sensor, and a large battery. But get the D3400, honestly. It’s a better camera for the same price.

One of the more recent offerings from Canon, but entry-level nonetheless. The 1500D gets you a larger sensor (in megapixel count) over the 1500D. Then, there’s also NFC and WiFI which is great. What disappoints are the AF points, 3fps burst shooting mode, and limited ISO range.

Things to Consider Before Buying an Entry-level DSLR
Buying a DSLR is a complex charade. If you don’t know about the product that you are buying and mostimportantly what you need then you can end up buying the rong one. Therefore below we have made a list of things that that you can keep in mind before buying your first DSLR camera.
Grip: A lot of DSLRs that you will be seeing in this category comes with average plastic material. A DSLR is a fragile equipment , therefore, it becomes necessary for textured grip in the area from where you hold the camera.
Quality: Your camera should have decent megapixels and also support to a variety of lenses. Although, don’t have any unrealistic expectations as there is limitation to their capabilities. Most of the entry level DSLRs are either used for learning or as replacement to smartphone cameras.
Sensor: The size of the sensor is another thing but you first need to decide for what purpose are you purchasing the camera. If you have specifically photography in mind then go for a Full Frame sensor otherwise an APS-C would be just fine. There are other types of sensors as well but for a beginner I would say an APS-C would be just fine
ISO Rating: A lot of camera claims to have ISO up to 12800 in this category but performs below average in poor lighting conditions. Don’t blame them as you can not squeeze out higher capabilities at this price. Although, you can check the reviews and get to know the camera performance under low light.
Processor: Always go for the latest one. Trust me, if your camera can click pictures and the processor is incapable of rendering it properly, what you’ll get is not what you wanted.
AF Points: An expensive camera will be having higher AF points but in this range the maximum you’ll get in India is 11. Therefore, if your priority is more object oriented go for higher AF points.
Connectivity: It is very important in its own way. The memory cards for these cameras are expensive so it can be really great to share pictures to your smartphone or laptop wireless, it’s all about ease. Also, now you can remotely control your camera just by your smartphone.
So this was our list of the best DSLR under price of Rs.30000. Currently, the number of products under this range is very limited but we will be updating this page as soon as something new and good hits the market.
